Local Plan: Sites Consultation -The second stage consultation for the Local Plan
Following on from the agreement of the Planning Policy Committee on 31 October, the Council is consulting upon the Local Plan which has reached its next stage in the process and we want to hear your views.
'The Local Plan - Sites Consultation' document is accompanied by a number of technical assessments, including new landscape and ecology studies. Comments can be made on all aspects of the sites consultation document as well as the accompanying documents including the Sustainability Appraisal and the Habitat Regulations Assessment. This consultation will give residents an opportunity to comment on sites being assessed as part of the plan. The Sites Consultation will last for eight weeks, starting on Friday 4 November and finishing on Friday 30 December 2016. Each site has been through landscape, ecology and other assessments to look at whether it could be developed or not.
As a result sites have been identified which:
Could be realistically developed.
Cannot be recommended for development
Need more investigation before a decision can be made either way.
The Sites Consultation will include evidence which can be used to protect the Green Belt in the long term. It will:
Not allocate any land for development.
Not change the boundary of the Green Belt.
The Local Plan we will submit is due to be published next year and will set out the vision for the district and provide a framework for the future improvement, development and local protection of the area and Green Belt. The Council knows how important the openness of the district is to residents and is committed to protecting its green spaces in the long term. Creating a Local Plan is done by following a legal process. No decisions on the plan have been made and won't be until after the final round of consultation, which is likely to take place in autumn/winter 2017.
